Roses are red...

Here at Etta French HQ we are suckers for Romance ...with Valentines Day fast approaching, its the perfect time to treat your loved one to something special or to do something special to say I Love You.

Roses are especially associated with Valentines Day - this tradition came from the Victorians through floriography, or the language of flowers, as a means to communicate feelings that could not be spoken. Red roses indicate passion and romantic love, while yellow roses signify friendship and devotion. White roses signify purity, sympathy or spirituality and pink roses, gratitude and appreciation. The word 'Rose' also means pink or red in a variety of different languages.

Whilst creating our fragrances for Etta French, we could not leave out Rose. One of our favourite smells and also one of the most popular scents of all time. The added scent of Saffron and Vetiver in our candles give it a certain spice and green smell which we think compliments the Rose perfectly.

One of our favourite photographs of our jewellery candles is this one, where we were introduced to the Juliette Rose. The most beautiful rose we've ever seen. Its a David Austin rose who is worldwide renowned for his amazing roses, which started for him just as a hobby In the 1950's. He say's "Rose breeding is often described as being as much an art as a science"

Just gorgeous... Wishing you all a Happy Valentines Day
